The Little Bookroom is busy, busy, busy with events. We pride ourselves on reader engagement on all levels. So whether it’s Story Time, Book Club, or other events such as our School Holiday program, Book Chat for teachers and librarians, there are plenty of ways to engage with books and the authors and illustrators who create them.
Leesa’s famous ‘Cabaret for toddlers’ style of storytime is ever popular. Happening weekly (during non-COVID times) and online (otherwise), this is a great way to share some books with 0-5 year olds and sing a few songs along the way. (After all, Dingle Dangle Scarecrow is Leesa’s all-time-favourite song).
We host Book Clubs each term for readers in grades 1&2, 3&4, 5&6 and High School. Signing up for a term, Book Clubbers receive two books which they will read in advance of the two meetings each term. We then meet (via Zoom currently, but usually in store over hot chips) and talk about them. Where possible, we invite the author and/or illustrator to join us.
From book launches to writing/illustration workshops, from author talks to our very own ‘Kids’ Book Fest’, we’ve got a lot going on! Not to mention our quarterly ‘Book Chat’ for Teachers and Librarians. Have a look at all our upcoming events.
